Well, I guess we can count the T880 as another casualty of environmental regs and the growing push to make every truck aerodynamic. It is still in production, but it's successor is being prepared already. Here's the replacement: the T880. Don't I sound excited? Read more

I doubt it's about aerodynamics. doing deliveries to sites around cities or in quarries or whatever, you could be driving a brick and it wouldnt even make a difference to your fuel bill.id say they are just upgrading it cause it's due to be upgraded.

I really dont understand why you kids are all upset about new styles. Its not like they are going to round up all the old trucks and chop them up. I really like the look of this and cant wait to see it on the road. I also find it funny that 90% of the bitching about the classics going away is being done by kids that were not even alive when they were originally released. Yet those of us that were are all for the change.

Oh wait, back then the games and forums wasn't even around. Heck, most people didn't even have a computer................................................................................. I sometimes miss those days! I still remember when I was a kid and we got our first color TV with 4 different channels to chose from

I actually like the T880, and I also like the T680's 53" cab, I wasn't a big fan of the big cab, but with the smaller cab it looks nice. These trucks also show that American trucks have finally entered the latest century. Don't get me wrong, I love old vehicles with a passion, but renewal isn't the devils work, it's also a good thing. The only thing you can hope for is that the new models look nice, and that they do in my opinion.

This one is a whole lot better looking than the T800 we have now. On an other hand, i don't think aero truck is going to change anything to your fuel bill, since you have alot of acceleration and braking to do

I don't think they were going for aerodynamics. Just styling. It's only one picture, but I wonder if they're trying to steer otr drivers towards they're other models and turn the 880 into a hd model. If you think about it that's what the 800 was kind of designed for. None the less that short sloped hood is meant for job sights where you need that extra line of sight or applications where length is an issues like oversize loads.

The aerodynamic styling is really starting to grow on me. I really want to see a nice clean, customized Cascadia.
As I have figured out, unless you are a O/O, you learn to deal with the truck your company gives you! Just because it is not your idea of a "cool" truck/brand of truck doesn't mean it is any less capable of getting the job done.

I think it would be nice to see someone lower a Cascadia by about five inches, add some straight pipes, super singles, full fiberglass fenders, custom stealth LED lights, and a drop visor. It probably would look nice. I'm not saying there is no place for change, because I actually like the new Coronado much more than the old, but I did really like the T800, especially the W model, and I'm sad to see it go.

I bet if they go to a w model of the 880 you'll see it look more similar to the old 800. Also I imagine it will take some time to develop different versions so I bet they will offer the t800 for some time to come.

I'm proud of the classic model but the new T880 have a nice look! Pretty agressive for doing some heavy work. It's a Keworth after all!

I've seen worse looking trucks, I think all this new equipment will grow on us eventually. I use to think the T660 and 389 were ugly, and I'm sure everybody knows how I feel about those now. And it actually does have alot to do with aerodynamics because the US EPA put out a standard for aerodynamics that all new class 8 trucks must meet.

Really for the aerodynamics standard by the US EPA? That's kind of ?!?! But it's the EPA..and we can do nothing....

It all depends on how you drive it...I've seen people get 7mpg out of a 379 and 6 out of a prostar. Owner ops are always going to get a 389 or W9, that's just the way most are. Do I think the T880 looks bad? No...It's tons better than the T8 was...I just like the older trucks better. I love the T660 and the 386...hell, the T700 and Prostar look good to me also. I don't see where you older folks get the idea that we "Hate" the new trucks.....They're not my favorite, no...but they're not bad. I can't help the fact I grew up around extended hood trucks and that's what I've been raised around...Corey, you have a 9900 and two 379's in games, that tells me that you would rather have those too than a T680 or 579.
I speekith the truth...

Yeah maybe they're not immediately disappearing off the face of the earth, but still, it's the idea that they won't be made anymore. Really, I'm still really disappointed that they replaced the T600, but this same thing was bound to happen to the T800. I just hope they don't fuck up and replace the W900 along with them. The looks actually aren't bad, I like it (coming from someone who didn't like the T2000 being replaced with the T700 at first), I just hate that trucks are fallen under unnecessary government control. Sick of all the damn EPA and CARB bullshit they're cramming down everyone's throats and killing fuel efficiency for cleaner emissions, just so they can say how good of a job they're doing "saving the planet". Nonsense! Edit from the future (2020): My goodness, this post didn't age well. Serious cringe. Complaining about new stuff is a pastime enjoyed by all who never wish to keep their future open for improvement because they fear and hate that which they don't understand. I'm pretty glad I grew out of it. Also, that anti-clean emissions stance I had is just plain stupid. It's not that bad, especially since a good handful of the kinks have been worked out over the past several years. They're here now, and they're here to stay. The best one can do is learn and understand the technology and how to maintain and work on it properly instead of getting mad because it insulted your fragile intelligence and illegally ripping it apart and disabling it. I really don't care if the T800 goes away forever, apparently the fuckers never really went out of production up until either now as I speak, or will be very shortly, and the same goes for the W900 (by the way, the W990 is absolutely stunning.) It's not like this is the first time this kind of thing has happened. It's just the way of the world. Either live with it or perish with the old.

I often live by the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Unfortunately there are too many people who don't know the difference.

I do think that the longer the models are around, the more they'll grow on us. I didn't care for the 389 at first either, now I love them. My dad says people did the same with the 359 when the 379 was introduced. I just don't like how now they're getting like hybrid cars. They can't seem to make something that looks badass that they deem "efficient".

Yep, and new fuel economy standards that are also mandatory. I agree that the T880 is not the worst-looking truck, but I prefer boxy over smooth. I actually really like the 389 because it looks pretty close to the 379. The T700 seems to be a nice truck, I'm still trying to accept the T860, and actually the new Cascadia Evo is sort of an improvement over the old Cascadia. There will be changes ahead I am sure.

I don't really mine the clean diesel shit, but some states like Cali just want everyone to drop what they're doing and go buy a new truck when not everyone can afford that. Estes bought 1500 new trucks to spread through the fleet and had to send them to California to replace the older trucks. California wouldn't even let Estes drive them out, they had to be loaded on flatbeds and drove into Arizona and Nevada...To me that is the ridiculous thing...

I just hope they don't fuck up and replace the W900 along with them. Hate to break it to you but I would almost bet you that we will be seeing a "W980" sometime in the near future. I could picture them doing something along the lines of the Freightliner Coronado. Use the same cab as this T880 has and design a hood something similar to what the Coronado has. And I'm sure Peterbilt will do the same with the 389. I do think the US Government is sticking there greasy hands in where they don't belong. Honestly, if fleets and owner/operators want the classic looking trucks and manufactures are still willing to produce them the government should have no right to tell them otherwise. But welcome to 2013, where fuel economy is king. And every time they put out a new emission standard it is making trucks more expensive to purchase, maintain and repair. All while hacking down the life span of the vehicle. And IDC what the manufactures or any of you on here say I drive emissions vehicles and the heat that those run at are substantially higher than pre-emission motors. And heat means wear, and wear means $$$.

But like I said, it all depends on how you drive it. You can get the same milage from a 389 that you can with a 386 or Prostar. You just have to know how to drive it to get that.
