I was pointing to making a coupe design for it like the 69 and 70 chargers not making them look like some foreign crap i was pointing to make them look more like a muscle car.

Any plans on a replacement for the Volvo Illousion?
Saw a couple of interesting loan files today at work. One was for a 1968 Camaro with 984,xxx miles, actually in very nice condition. Almost perfect condition. The other was a '57 Cadillac Series 62 convertible. Absolutely mint with 40,000 miles. Power windows, locks, seats, steering and brakes. In red with a white top and white seats. I can't recall if I noticed what the loan amount was on the Chev. The Cadi was $33,000. It was probably only $6-10k brand new in '57.

What?! Yeah. :/ Any plans on a replacement for the Volvo Illousion? Right now I'm actually driving a brand new KIA that I pay next to nothing for, it's called a förmånsbil in Sweden, I have it through work. Allow me to quote myself on what a förmånsbil is. What I like about it is the fact that it gets 55 actual MPGs. That's pretty much where the fun stops. My plan now is to drive it for like three months then give it back and then either get another, better förmånsbil or buy something private, preferably an older/brand new US-car. I've just finished school and started working full time as a car salesman so I figured driving the KIA would make it easier to put some money aside. Don't worry guys, I haven't lost my interest in cars at all, it's just that I'm saving money to buy something proper.

Nothing wrong with that I suppose, I just bought a 50cc scooter myself to save extra money for buying a house. Once I have that I'll be set up nicely and can buy my next car I want without worrying.
What kind of Kia is it? They aren't all bad these days.

The newer Kias are lightyears ahead of the older ones. My girl friend's family has a 2005 Kia that needed the engine rebuilt at 60,000 miles and still has idle issues problems with engine knock etc. Nothing wrong with saving money. And it will give you time to decide on a car you really want.

By that time you wont have any money to buy a car you want if you have to do an engine rebuild every 60,000 miles ;D I know a guy who has a similar 80's Nissan Sunny than i had with 250,000 miles and never had to open the engine. Rather buy such smaller old car if you want to save money. Part are cheap, insurance is cheap, driving is cheap. You wont loose big money in the reduction of value either. But old cars are old cars. Worth it only if you know how to do the repairs yourself. The previous owner of my nissan had spent 600€ on repairs in the past year before selling it to me for 200€.. haha. Then i sold it for 400€ after over 2000 miles of furious driving, redlining all the time, trashing and racing it. ;D

I forget where they got the Kia from, but it was originally meant for my girl friend. She barely drove it since it was such a piece of crap. Luckily I think they got it for practically nothing from a friend.

What kind of Kia is it? They aren't all bad these days. It's a Rio (Rio5 in the states). Here's a picture of the beast that I took at a friends house earlier today. What I like about it is the fact that it gets 55 actual MPGs. It's pretty comfortable for a small car, fairly well built and the 1.4 diesel makes it pretty quick. The best part about it is that I only pay 32% of the diesel I put in it, and the car itself costs me a whopping 800SEK per month ($115, £73,50). That's including insurance, tax, service and depriciation. I only keep those KIA/Rio/7-year warranty-stickers on it because you can make a pretty big tax-deduction for "having" to have them on your car and using it outside of work. But I miss driving the LTD Crown Victoria badly. The Rio might be a brand new car, but it's far from a traditional full-size.

The little car like the Rio have a lack of diesel motor in North America. Very bad...they are so efficient on fuel and strong!

The crown vic though not very fast, was a great rugged, and cheap to fix design. Doubt they'll prove as hardy or cheap to replace parts with the new taurus, caprice, and charger. Taurus won't hold a candle to the rest in durability, chargers will be expensive to buy and maintain and they don't last nearly as long with their drive train, and I'm having higher hopes with the new caprice. I believe the new caprice will hold up better mechanically and durability wise. Plus, more space. Only thing with those is it may be just as much cost in servicing as the charger. Or perhaps even more depending. I don't know why ford didn't just redesign the look and add more safety features, and beef up the engine with a 5.4 ecoboost from the f-150. I guess they just want to make more money.

Exactly my thought. That's what many people seem to agree on. My girl friend's neighbor is a cop and he said he would take a Crown Vic over the Charger or the new Taurus. In Mass, most of the agencies around Boston are starting to add a few random Taurus' into their fleet. Some towns in central and western MA have sprung for like one Taurus. The State Police use a handful of Chargers for highway work. But now I'm reading more towns want to spring for the Caprice. It's going to be a mix of everything.

These newfangled cruisers can't hold a candle to the 1969 Dodge Polara. These police cars had 440s that made 375HP (Not sure on the exact number) and looked real badass. From 1969 to the mid 90's when the CHP got Camaros, these were the fastest cars they had tested.

From 1969 to the mid 90's when the CHP got Camaros, these were the fastest cars they had tested. Those were apparently good. But I still think the 5.7L lt1 caprice was the best. The polara has a higher HP rating but I swear on my life the dodge wouldn't have the same high speed power the lt1 puts out. They are a real piece of machinery on the highway. And they are rock solid too, very heavy duty and lots of space perfect for police work... Another reason why I'll never warm up to the new taurus or charger.

What would you guys recommend for a headlight cleaner?
And windshield wipers?

Cleaner or one of those defogging compounds? Either way anything will do honestly. I use Meguiar's PlastX on all lights everytime I wash the car. Works good and they still look like new after 7 years. That stuff is fairly heavy duty. For fog and heavy shit build up on the outside use a buffer.

Just took a test drive in a 1988 Citroen AX 1.0. All i can do is laugh. I drove the car 100 yards and turned back. I've never been so afraid at 15mph. The car was squaking, rattling and rumbling unbearably. Probably all the bushes gone, both lower ball joints gone and what could i make from the noise, probably either one of the front wheel bearings gone, tranny(i think) was making a horrible whine. The gear link joints were worn so the gearstick was going around without knowing what gear was in. Not to mention the driver seat didnt lock in place, and the seat frame was held in place by 2 loose screws and a cable tie, the seat itself was held on the frame with cable ties and the tilted rear seat was the only thing preventing it from sliding off the rails. The interior trim in the back was missing entirely, mold all around the car, cigarette ash and garbage all around the car not to mention the horrible smell. All the wiring was showing, radio missing, glove compartment missing, fuel gauge didnt work and the hood didnt lock in place I've seen cars 10x better being junked or put on the field to be trashed around. How can a car like this be allowed to be driven on the road?

Yeah i never owned a french car myself but those very few that have been in the family have been junk, even when new. I didnt expect much for a 150€ car but i've never driven any car counting all the unregistered "field cars" that would be this crap. It only had 2 weeks driving time before inspection anyway. And any sane inspector would rip the plates off without having to think twice.
