any updates on this sexy ass bitch? Not yet. Been putting all my money into the rear end fund. I'm buying a set of complete rear ends (basically a cutoff minus the rails). Hangers, leafs, brackets, new bags, brakes, wheel seals, short shaft, and 3.70 rear ends delivered to the place of my choosing for $900. Come off of an 86 EXHD. Just taken off to update with newer suspension.

Went for a little 30-mile drive today. Had my buddy take pics as my hands were full with a 13 speed. Awesome that it's road worthy! I can't wait to see the final product of this thing!

my hands were full with a 13 speed. This makes me lol. Just giving you a hard time, but get you some 6 and 4s like I had talk about having a hand full. Btw if it's got the 2 speed rear you won't need low unless your in mud. Tip for a mechanical or any high horsepower motor roll your foot on the throttle. Don't mash it, little bit at a time but steady. An A model is weak. B's arnt the best but they are better than an A. In a perfect world you could have found a mechanical C.

Never had that problem in that 379X I had and it was a 13 speed but then again it was alot newer than what your working with. Nice project as well and cant wait to see how it turns out. I also agree with Sam on the 6 / 4's too. Talking about a hand full good grief .

My next 359 will have that and a 3408 factory. I'm going to end up having 3.55 or 3.36 rear ends and a mechanical C with an 18 speed. Might make the conversion where the splitter is the 2nd stick. I have a set of 3.70's that are going in until I can get my frame done.

Don't do the stupid air conversion please.
I could never convince my dad to buy a v8 but boy I wanted one bad growing up. So how well does that A perform? Want me to give you some tips or are you gonna pull it pretty soon?

I'm assuming he means just so he can move the truck from place to place to work on it as needed. Not, to drive with until he can get better ones.

Yes because I got a good deal on them. It's just a way for me to move from place to place bobtailing to work on it, play some, etc. My frame job was done so poorly that I'm going to buy a complete frame off of a 379 with low air leaf Pete suspension and a mechanical C model Cat to put my hood and cab on. I'm going to put the 3.70's on so I can drive it while I'm building my frame. The frame will be done before the cab even touches it.

Best thing to do would be buy the running gear spec'd the way you want it but that combination is basically never gonna happen. Me and Hillbilly were discussing this. I, going to do an air ride front axle and Pete low air leaf. Best ride besides a kenworth 8 bag, mechanical C's are the dream but the motor is hard to find, I used to want twin sticks but more and more every day I want a regular 15 speed. No automatic but I Definetly could live with a 10 again if it wasn't for needing more top end.

i think I'm going to try to see if 4 states in Joplin has the frame. They have acres and acres of frames and trucks lying out back. They're bound to have something with low air that's in half way decent shape. They make air ride front axle conversion kits too. I thought about getting the shift conversion for an air shift that splits it into 2 sticks. 1 stick is just the high/low button though but it gives it that twin stick feel.

Joplin should have something, we were and still might get a cutoff so we can stretch the binder from them.

Those are stupid as fuck and feel nothing like a twin stick. Unless it's a real twin stick, it's not about the experience so much as the looks. A 5&4 would be cool, but it'd get to be a hassle after a while. Hard to skip gears in them too, I've heard. I think it'd be really cool to drive one. 359er, you could see how much a frame from Peterbilt with low air would cost you. I'm sure for some extra cash you could get the holes in the right spots too! lol Probably batshit crazy price, though. Hopefully you find what you need for a decent price. You might need to buy a wrecked truck, maybe one that rolled over with the frame intact.

A frame from peterbilt would cost him the rest of his budget on the truck. You never go to the factory for something like that.
You won't usually find a rollover or wrecked truck without a tweaked frame.

Dad had several 5 x 4's they can be skipped shifted they can do just about anything you want, and if anyone wants some true help on shifting them let me know.

I'm going to look for a frame off of a 90's 379 with low leaf. I can find it pretty easy with the majority of the holes drilled I'd think. 359's and 379's both have 127" BBCs. I'm going with duel 150's but I think I wanna put the gen boxes in front of the tanks. Not a lot of holes will be drilled in it past the tanks. The suspension holes and a Pete toolbox on each side is all there'll be after the tanks. Bumper, Frame mounted luberfiner, steps, stacks (straight 8's don't need brackets on the frame) sleeper boxes, duel 150's, Pete toolboxes, halfs, suspension, flap brackets. That's what I want. truckpartsinventory.com/parts/details/80176326

Yes I know my aluminum looks like shit, I know my trucks dirty. Still haven't taken a trip to the Streakin Beacon. But still...I had to..... I'll be driving this bitch around a lot more when I get the rear ends put in.
