Wow , who cares if your "passenger", atleast your learning before hand... Come on now, I didn't want this thread to become a war. Lets all just be friends and talk about the truck lol
This truck looks like a International Cab with a Mack Hood...

A 430HP anything will lack in power. My dad has a 435 c13 in his truck right now. And yeah, I share the same view as you do. I liked the 3406E and B models, they even sound the best. I'm talking about the c13, c15 acert models and the twin turbos is all. They were problematic, and they are expensive to fix. Mainly because the name. Besides the sound and the power, I rate them low. I'm mixed on cummins. Nothing amazing. Before my dad got this 9400 with a c13, he had a cummins 430. It was brutal. Slow as fuck. Love the n14 though. Yeah your right 430hp is going to suck no matter what. My brother use to drive a 2007 T600 with a 435 C13 and it sucked, I only drove it a couple times but even from that little time you could tell it had no balls. It wasn't really ever in the shop tho, the only thing that needed work all the time was the damn TriPac APU... And I agree the N14 was a good motor...

What was the cummins motor in the mid 2000's, like 03-06? N14? Because whatever Cummins is in that area, they are fucking LOUD with straight pipes.

Jesus I thought they quit making 430HP's in the 90's lol. Dude, my dad pulls 2 53' tridem trailers at max legal weight with one. It takes like 20 minutes of flat road driving to reach 18th gear.

Didn't quiet understand that lol. Just saying, from a dead stop, you need to gain speed fairly fast when you have cars doing 70-80 mph, right?

Just saying, from a dead stop, you need to gain speed fairly fast when you have cars doing 70-80 mph, right? Yes gain speed but at your own pace. You are larger than the 4 wheelers and need more space they will slow down. It doesn't matter if your 5 miles under the speed limit you can get in the right lane then get up to speed and change lanes. Not that much of a rush just don't need to be in a hurry that's all im saying. And you consume a tad more fuel being in a hurry your getting the throttle up to the rpm's faster than you normally do. Which in turn uses a bit more fuel which hurts you and your wallet.

I would never baby a diesel engine in a truck. They're meant to be worked hard and put to the max of what they're designed for. Even though I'm all for fuel economy, gotta keep the gears turning the way they're supposed to.

My dad has and will always baby his stuff because if his truck is not running, we are not making money, think of it that way. Regardless if its meant to work, take care of it and baby it. Thats how shit breaks, constantly gunning it and what not. Treat your truck right, and it will start up every morning and run every day.... Its just not worth ruining at $150,000 piece of equipment....

Get it up to its sweet spot not all the way up to 1800 and back down to the sweet spot.

So your saying my dad doesn't take care of his truck because I made a video? Doing it once doesn't hurt anything... He is gentle on the throttle, greases everything every week, takes it in every 10k miles for service (oil change and that non sense), wash's it, polish's it, does everything, when some guys dont even have the knowledge to work a pressure washer to atleast wash it! Yeah, I guess thats not babying his truck... He obviously trusts his truck and me if he lets me mess with a hazardous tanker if he let me make that video... But hey, what do I know?

Seriously Reddog, I understand you know about trucks... And there's nothing wrong with riding with ur dad and it probably will make you a better driver. But honestly until you start driving these on a daily basis don't go talking a bunch of smack, how do you figure your going to get an 80,000lbs + truck up to speed on flat land, let alone an incline when you driving like there's an egg on the throttle? And Claus has been working on trucks as a living for about 20 years, so he is the last guy you want to argue with about this stuff

Yeah I know, but im not talking smack, im just saying, thats the rule for accelerating, everyone should know that, i was stating a fact, thats all ;D But of course you dont do that when theres an incline, you obviously need to get momentum... And on your last comment.... He has no right saying my dad doesn't take care of his truck, when he hasn't even met him or seen how great of shape his truck is, and running for 6 yr old truck running 6 days a week, when I see 1 yr old trucks with rusted frames and peeling paint because they dont take care of it..

Giving the truck throttle isn't going to hurt it, they are meant to be able to do that. Do you really think a vehicle that is made to pull 80,000lbs is going to be made for people to baby it? Sure once you get to cruising speed you aren't going to be mashing on the gas but when your loaded heavy you aren't going to be babying the throttle when your starting off from a traffic light, because it will take for ever to get up to speed. Besides the power range is in the higher rpms so when you drive with no throttle at low ass rpms then your just going to strain the motor even more

True, true. But what i kinda meant is when people slam the throttle, slam the gear and slam the throttle. Like you said, full throttle wont hurt anything just as long as your not going full force into it like your trying to kick down a door lol... But Hey, dont bash me ;D , im still learning I know, and obviously have a lot more to learn, again im only 14. Im not saying at all that i know everything, no one does.

Ive seen people over rev..that was what I was trying to say. When I say babying is driving it like a normal person not driving it like an idiot. Sorry if I riled up some people. Just get it up to speed but don't speed shift the truck you'll kill the poor thing and it's not a racecar. Oh and going over on our engine while lets say in first gear for example you will consume more oil than normal.

Babying it is driving like a normal person in some instances and religious maintenance.
