I swear, if I ever find a Dodge St. Regis I'm buying it. As long as it's roadworthy I'm buying it. I don't give a flying fuck about the somewhat bad quality control of the 70's, the St. Regis is a fantastic forgotten car. Dreamcar no. 2 after a '75-78 Ford Country Squire.

I think I read around 6,000 or more. and most of those schollarships require essays and shit and yall know how bad I type. just imagine hand righting. 6000?!??! Fuck my school is 35! Same here...2500 was the total cost for diesel mechanics at the local community college. My cousin kept telling me go there for basics. Which would be useless and uti wouldn't take me an i'd have to go somewhere else and possibly out of town.

Well, I'm finally back in school. Studying something pretty simple but something I like. Car mechanic. Something on the side for me so I can start working on my own car once I get one.

Sounds cool. Part of me has always wanted to be a mechanic. Either on diesels or for a GM/Cadillac dealership.

I dont know how it works over there, but will your certification transfer over here? I remember you said you were thinking about living in the US. Should but im curious how that works.

If he does come to the US. He would have to take the ASE test. But if only it were that easy. Speaking of that..I could back out of uti and go get a degree in diesel mechanics but I think I can get what there going to give me and then later on get my degree. After uti I plan to attend the local community college for welding hopefully.

If I ever buy another Deville it will be a 94-95 with the 4.9L L26. Such a damn nice one in this vid.

Sounds cool. Part of me has always wanted to be a mechanic. Either on diesels or for a GM/Cadillac dealership. As much as you might love mechanics, generally avoid doing it as a career if you can do better. Might be good at first, but you don't realise how much back breaking work and hard labour it can be til you're doing it day in day out and coping with bosses shoving work on you constantly and customers complaining and nagging. It's also a lot more hassle nowadays because you have a lot more paperwork and electronics to go through/use for every single job. Plus you don't get as much pay as you deserve for the work you do. I'd say it should be a fallback job, i.e. if you're stuck for a job, didn't do too well at school, etc. BTW, just to clarify, I am in no way saying being a mechanic is for dumb people.

Well in general that's correct, which is why I never got into doing that. If you own your own shop or find work at a good place you can do well for yourself but it's all about getting a little lucky and finding the right job. My family knows the owner of this place. The guys literally a millionaire. He pays his guys pretty good money too. www.fullerautomotive.com/

To me it's one of the few things i'd be happy doing. I know of the hard intensive labor and new bs...Instead of getting pushed around I hope to be the boss of my own shop someday. Yeah im not the best at school but i'd rather work in this industry.

Being a mechanic can be worst than being a fucking doctor, because day after day new shit is being designed and you have to go almost every month to learn new shit. ASE Certifications is another thing that can be a bitch. Only 11 people in the U.S. have it and there are 56 of them, My shop teacher is on his 47th one and planning on being the 12th to have all of them. Doing this line of work can be a pain and get reall damn annoying at times. I love doing this shit now at tech school but I know after a few years of doing it I will hate the job like everyone else hates theirs. So far these almost three years at this tech school have paid off, the ability to understand the fundamentals and how to diagnois is great. If you are really into something like working on cars or trucks it is worth going to school for it.

Luis you know where I want to work.

^NICE!^
The mechanic shit is just for me, as a hobby. I might end up trying to get a job at a hot rod shop, or else I'll just do up hot rods myself and sell them. I don't know what these certificates are you guys are talking about. Yeah the certificates I get are european but I think if you can work on cars they don't care if you have certificates or not. Al garages here think you're more valuable with a few years experience and no certificates than having all your certificates and no experience. But I want to be a trucker anyway. Like I said, this is just for me, so I can work on my own car and truck if needed or if I feel like it.
BTW I did some very simple shit today, taking out the thermostat in the cooling system and two sensors. I tested them in water while it's being heated. A thing as simple as that made me come home smiling, in fact I'm still smiling.
