Two piece windshields FTW! Back to the 70's and 80's!

I think peterbilts losing it...the cabs are starting to look more and more like kenworths. The only thing that makes it different is the hood and interior. If I'm right, isn't it cheaper to fix a two piece windshield since if there's a crack in one side, you dont have to replace the whole thing?

yep, true, but that's why Kenworth kept two piece windshields as an option This'll blow over eventually, back in the early 90's we had oil shortages too, and everyone started freaking out, and thus they came with shit like the 377 and The T600 from the oil shortage back in the 70's. Soon they'll just find more oil or just make engines that run on something different and this aerodynamics race will be over for another 10 to 20 years.

you mean aerodynamics? I dont really see the advantage of a 1 piece, does that bar really get in the way?

you'd be surprised bud... even though that split is maybe 3" wide depending on how far away you're looking it could cut feet out of your vision

Thats not too bad. I don't care for eather, since all the shit I've rode in had a single shield except the 359 I've rode in. Although like Jon said in the long run it could be cheaper then replacing a whole windshield rather then a single pane. Anyway.. I'd go for eather idc. Just my useless opinion!

I think the single piece windshield gives it a modern look but they've fucked up the classic design because that's what the 389 is based on !

I think it's neat. I dunno if it looks better, but it's certainly different and a nice change of pace to look at.
By the way, for all you clowns saying it's bad to have a 1 piece windshield, you've been fed the wrong information. They might cost more to fix, but the way they're designed is to deflect rocks, where as a split windshield is prone to rock chips and cracks.

Single piece looks more modern, but many companies choose dual windscreen/windshields because they're, well... like you said, cheaper to replace. At least that's how it is here anyway.

Because they don't have that option. They would if they could ;D
I think single piece makes it feel more spacious too, and it feels like you have a huge windscreen.

I agree with Ivan the painted visor looks like total crap... And I think the solid windshield is cool and it does make it look modern I mean after all it is 2010 and Peterbilt has been the same setup for decades now, its time for a change, and I'm sure that its only an option guess we just wait and see

I'd like to see them update the 388 and 389 with single round headlights integrated into the fenders, that would look totally awesome together with the single piece windshield.

Looks alright..Kenworth has the two piece windshield but that's for heavy applications like gravel pits off road where you see alot of rocks and debris. Yes at times it's cheaper to replace one windsheild than the other. Looks cool just needs a nice chrome visor..Times are changing these are the trucks were going to drive get used to it.

I bet if they wouldn't have went in with them Dou*hebag's Peterbilt would be just as good in the now as the 70's.
