I just installed my new nvidia (evga) geforce 9800 gt 512mb superclocked on thursday along with a corsair 400 Watt power supply. My card seems to be running a little hot however, 65 to 67 degrees celcius when playing Haulin. Should I be worried about this? Or is this normal for cards of this caliber to run hot? It also runs from 47-50 degrees celcius when doing simple tasks like browsing the web. theres 2 accounts on my computer.my other account got a HUGE ASS VIRUS.it wont even let me turn on tskmngr!it wont let me do any thing.not even the internet!i switched to the other account and everything is working.how do i get rid of it?? And ford if one account has the virus, the other will probably catch it too. Assuming the accounts are on the same computer. As the virus is on the computers hard drive and both accounts run off of it. Idk much about virus's except the fact that they're assholes lol. But if I was you I'd take it to an expert and see what they could do with it. If it was so bad I couldn't do anything on one account, I wouldn't want to fuck with a virus that bad.

First you should try downloading RivaTuner or something that will allow you to set the fan speed manually. Then, if you crank it to 100% and dont here a big ass noise coming from the case, your fan is indeed gone. You can get replacement fans, but I dunno where you could, being almost 10,000 miles away.

Ebay Thermal Paste + Video Card Fan's / Heatsink's. But do try RivaTuner and take the side of your case off, and you can see if the fan's running or not, or clean out your pc case of dust, and make sure there's no dust in your video card fan to stop it from running, It's possible, Clump's of cat hair can wrap around a fan blade / motor and stop it from working.

wimg.co.uk/aIn.jpgwimg.co.uk/ZSp.jpgI dunno if that pic shows the lines all over the screen very well, but I can't tell because I can't see shit because of them. So, what I was gonna ask is... would there be anything restricting me on what card I buy? Currently I've got a (screwed) 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT. 4GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor. Power supply - no idea. Tis a Dell XPS 420 machine, so whatever they usually come with. But it's obviously one good enough for this setup. Say for example... I got a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5850? Or a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480? These are just random ideas... Kevin has the ATI one, which is awesome from what I understand, so meh, depends on the price. Would those probably be fine with my current setup?

So, what I was gonna ask is... would there be anything restricting me on what card I buy? Only thing is money, really. Any card will work in any half decent motherboard - which you obviously have if you've already got a Q6600 and 8800GT.

I'm not going for just a decent card, I'm getting at least the same spec as I have now. Preferably better if possible. But yes, money is an issue. Although I could do it, I'm not prepared to spent the £200+ on those cards I suggested above. Thanks for the links though.
Is the 9800GT any better or worse than the 8800GT? Apparently they're pretty much the same, except the 9 series is the newer version. I saw a 1GB one (yeah I wanna upgrade from 512MB) for like £100 on ebuyer.

I found a 1GB Asus for £102.99 including VAT. But you can probably get better since you'd know more than just the first result on Google. It's just an upgraded 9800, which as you say, is an upgraded 8800.

Right now I'm looking at this: Sapphire RADEON HD 4870 Graphics adapter - 1 GB - GDDR5 SDRAM Good price, and I'm looking at a review comparing the 9800GT and 8800GT with some others, this one included, and it's getting considerably better frame rates than those two. www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/599/9

It's not far off yours performance wise luderich, and a lot cheaper! £150...
Also it doesn't run as hot and doesn't use as much power. My power supply is at least 375w (continuous, not peak), and that's if it's the standard suppy Dell use with my computer. This card uses around 270w under full load. So I think it should be fine.
Dell rate their power supplies differently so its kinda confusing... but I think it'd mean the peak is around 500-600w.

www.ebuyer.com/product/61308Good enough? Don't see anything wrong with it. I think I might get that, even if it's just incase, price is a steal and fantastic ratings and user reviews on it.

Oh yayyyy, a gold colored fan grill, badass. But yes, that will work fine. You don't need something super powered.
