Alright guys, so this is basically two questions. First of all, does it seem like Freightliner Classics from about the later 90s to the early 2000s have an louder than normal turbo whistle? I was riding next to one on the freeway a couple days ago, and the turbo was really loud, and really awesome, but this was no custom truck or anything. Just an old tired long hood still making some dough.
And also, does anyone know the name of the chirping sound air brakes make when they are released sometimes? I call it chirping, but I'm sure there's a better way to describe it.
Thanks.

I agree with you on the Freightliner part, I drove next to a Classic XL on the freeway and you can hear that whistle for miles! But then again it's all on the engine, had a CAT under the hood so that must of been the reason why. And those chirping air brakes, I've been hearing them on the newer Freightliner models, like the Cascadia and M2, they make that distinct chirp mainly because of the way they're designed, kinda like how you hear different ones for different models (ex: a trash truck and a bus).

Ok, good, so I'm not the only one. I've heard the chirp for a while, but just never really thought about it. As far as the turbo is concerned, the first time I noticed it was a National Geographic episode of Border Wars, and one of the border agents was driving a classic XL on the show, and even inside the cab, the sounds was incredible. I noticed it again this week, and thought I'd call attention to it. I want a Classic myself now.

Our 2000 C-15 has a mean Whistle, but our 3406e, you can barely hear it, as-well as for our 60 series, put a new turbo in it, and it can't be heard, at all.
