Let's just say that Volkswagen plans to own everything and call it quits.

My buddys gf has an 03 cabrio. They said there aren't parts. When to a wrecker and he laughed at us and said 99-03 are impossible to find parts for. Also the power locks on that thing are nuematic. Who fucking builds a car like that.

I can't speak much for the late 90's to mid 2000's because I don't really have any experience with them, but the brand new VW's are very nice cars, mainly the Passat and CC. They are German engineered, but the Passat is built in the US. The CC I believe in Mexico. Their build quality is excellent and the upper trims have the same feel of an Audi or BMW. This is thanks to the former CEO of Audi becoming the current CEO of VW in 2007. As far as repair/parts, with a warranty you won't be worrying about dealing with anything yourself for quite a while. If it comes to that, I can't imagine they are any different than almost every car built in the last decade. All brands have their issues with certain complexities and you can't be surprised if obtaining parts is particularly harder with those brands from outside the US. Especially on older models, before manufacturers started building more plants in NA. In the last few years the foreign brands have all started upping their number of plants in North America.

Nothing beats late model american cars and trucks for easily accessable and cheap parts. Cause they're made the exact same way you did 35 years ago, we update our technology too!
