We as a community have an opportunity to give SCS a hand.
ETS2 has been submitted to Steam Greenlight, a new program where users can vote for games to be submitted to Valve's game distribution service. If you have a steam account, please visit steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=93066271
and click the thumbs up button (indicated by a blue arrow in the picture below) and the "favorite" button (indicated by a red arrow in the picture below)
If you don't have a Steam account, please consider signing up for a free account (even if this is the only time you use it!)
Some of you may not like steam and worry that if this is approved, will be the only distribution channel for ETS2. Fear not, as SCS says: "Rest assured that Steam was always considered as a complementary distribution channel for us - we would not require people buying the game in the box edition in stores or digitally from our own website to have to install Steam or use any Steam services."
But as they point out, getting on Steam will give them a huge amount of exposure that they would never otherwise receive, which will translate into more revenue, which will allow them to keep working on better trucking games in the future.
"Being present on Steam is very important for any independent game developer. Steam is the 800-pound gorilla of the digital distribution world, many people just go there for their games, many people discover new games only thanks to Steam. This could bring us additional sales that we couldn't get otherwise - and additional sales mean more funding for further improvements of ETS2 as well as for our future projects. Our games are 100% financed by your purchases and nothing else - we don't have any big publisher investing into our projects."
Please take the time out of your day to show SCS that we still care about them and their games, even if it's about time they made a new american one
PS: you can also vote for SCANIA truck Driving Simulator here
Staff note: This topic will be an "announcement" for 48 hours, and then be demoted.
