Yup.... just as the title says. I had left my crawlspace open yesterday for a short while and my bro mentioned she had went down there so I left the door open all night because she usually takes a long ass nap to evade the heat but she didn't come up all night. And this morning I decided to investigate since she still hadn't come up. I went down there and looked, it's a pretty dingey crawlspace. Half of it is dirt, covered with cylinder blocks and the previous owner so it's pretty hard to see anything. I thought I heard a faint cry but I had thought in the back of my mind she'd have her babies down there, so I was kinda weary that I was just hearing things as I hoped she'd have them down there instead of somewhere outside where I couldn't find her. Anyways, I searched around with a flashlight and heard the meanest cat growl I ever heard. I went back upstairs and told my dad, so he got curious to come look as well. So, we went back to the spot where I heard the growl and he heard the kitten cry as well. Then we heard it again and we couldn't see anything. So my dad moved a cylinder block over and a plank of plywood and low and behold, there was my kitty. She was growling because she didn't know it was us I think. We seen a little orange head bobbing up and down. So I went back upstairs and grabbed her water and food, replenished her supplies, went back down into the crawlspace and gave her some salmon paté and away I went to let her do the mother thing. So that's the story, lol. Anyone have experience with kittens? I guess she chose that spot for a reason, so I think if they are in danger she will move them instinctively. Can anyone assure me of this? if I left her water and food about 20 feet away from her is that too much of a distance?

The kittens should be fine, specially since your cat is outside most of the time. My cousins live on a farm with more cats than you can shake a stick at, and there cats always have there kittens in some tiny little space. Which makes that they always have to leave it to the cats to take care of them.
And on the subject of food and water being far away...... One of their cats had her kittens about half a mile away from there place, she always showed up for food then left again, lol.

Holy crap, lol. Well thanks guys, sounds easy enough. I'm guessing after a few weeks they can be handled?

Yeah I ended up moving them into a big tupperware bin, I lined with a pillow and a towel not far from before. She got mad at first and tried moving them back but after I took two and carried them over she went right in and started purring. One cat is an oddball out of the bunch, he's orange and white. I'll be keeping that one for sure.

The mom is a tortoise shell type, but she doesn't have fuzzy hair and she has a tad bit of white on her. So she's obviously mixed. The rest of the kittens are her colors, except the oddball orange and whitey. I'm gonna get pics soon, don't worry.
