Yesterday was internet blackout day for thousands of sites, including this forum. IF the SOPA bill is passed in the US, this forum and millions of other sites can and will be censored from using any copyrighted material in any way shape or form. Because I am canadian and I own this forum, none of us are discluded. Proboards is american based and thousands of these forums would be shut down. Just imagine if you couldn't ever post a picture on here that contained a logo of any kind...... it would ruin this forum and most likely most of the internet. All of our hosting sites would be immediately shut down for this as well and downloads would be non existent.
The blackout is over now anyway. I figured I'd shut the site down from wednesday evening till today in the afternoon. That's why maintenance mode was enabled. I was gonna make the site do a 503 error but I didn't want to upset anyone at proboards.

I heared if you share a youtube video on facebook your pc will turn red and you will be blocked but i think its crap internet is only way we have to express ourselves and as someone said its just old fuckers in the house who dont know who to use internet and are also taking kickbacks. So people with tattoos aren't expressing themselves? How bout the custom rigs that we all like? That's not ones expression of theirselves? How bout your own personal clothes? Isn't that expression of self as well? There's plenty of things to express yourself with. What this is basically going to do is those of us that have a ton of say truck pics, with emblems, we can NO LONGER post them on facebook, or myspace, or google+. It will stop the 1000s of people from stealing software as well. Which is a good thing, but if you are like me and have some illegal stuff, you will no longer be able to get that kind of stuff. That's my take on it anyways. This isn't aimed at any of you personally, but, The problem is this country is getting more and more lazy, and fatter every day because we care too much about the dollar menu at mcdonalds, and what Brad pitt is doing. When I was a kid, we didn't have internet, cell phones. We went out side and played with the neighbors, and if you didn't like a kid, or he didn't like you, you either didn't play or got your ass kicked or whatever the case was. I think we depend too much on Computers, and cell phones myself, but that's just me.

I agree with Cory on this,we have become too dependent on things, lenient, lazy, disrespectful and ignorant, most of it is because they don't care.
And as for the old people,my dad can't do much more than turn on the computer and open Facebook and he thinks it's bullshit,he grew up in the early 50's.
There is nothing i can do but write an angry letter to them,if enough people do that they will back away from it,i heard they got shit tons of calls saying they don't want this, people trying to hack into things, some succeeding and Emails, blackouts and most of the internet saying no,so i'm not that worried anymore.
One more thing though, when they started this, the United States, they intended for the people to be free in most ways, then they change things, granted over the years new technology being released will have new laws but the original laws weren't that flawed, the people are in charge the way they had it,but a lot of people don't see it that way anymore, and they think he's the president and he's in charge,or congress or ANYONE that works in the government and so they will try in every fucking way possible to control the people,if they already think that way it wont be hard. <Ending my Rant>
If you don't agree then big whoop,i don't care,i let off some steam,i'm happy now.
Wow,this turned out to be a REALLY long message...

If you used megaupload for download links, I hope you have a backup copy to upload elsewhere. Megaupload was taken down yesterday evening. That sure didn't take long did it?

I know nobody of you here cares about Italy, but the same exact thing happened here a couple of months ago, the Government of Berlusconi wanted to apply a bill which had the same intent, but it didn't pass and a couple of months later suddenly Berlusconi got the fu*k off, finally, he played with this country for too many years with corruption and personal laws. Now there's a new guy and the economical situation is getting even worse. In the South the truckers are striking, and they said soon the strike will be extended to the whole country. And guess what, the media barely mentions it, they keep making tons of useless reports about that fu*king ship that hit a reef and rolled over.

I just don't understand how the U.S. can go to New Zealand and arrest people for crimes in the U.S. I mean none of the setup was here. So I'm just curious if these laws do pass, and perhaps some small Western European country creates a website that allows uploads/downloads but they don't have any laws like the U.S. what gives us the right to go there and make arrests? I don't understand how you can really regulate the internet when its a World Wide object.

I don't think that this will actually pass, from what I've read lots of reps are against it. Even Obama was against it and he's a goon. If it does pass I hope the Gov is prepared for anarchy. The bills were started by some nut job democrats who are trying to protect greedy companies in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry. Like that should be a top priority in this fucked up society. They try to disguise it by saying it's foreignors and terrorists who will be affected by the laws, lol. If only the founders of this country could see the shit that goes on today. They'd be sick.

Seems reasonable and will help to the blind fucks out there (A good chunk of the population.) but if you actually take the damn time to read around you'll find out what it will do.
When obama says it's a bad idea, that means it's a bad idea, after all,he's the master of bad ideas!

In fact, the bill hasn't been started by a democrat, but by a republicain who goes by the name of Lamar Seeligson Smith, 64 years old living in San Antonio, TX. Need more info? ;D
