Trail King Industries says it plans to permanently shut down its western Pennsylvania plant, citing the troubled economy, and consolidate production in the Dakotas. The manufacturer of heavy truck trailers employs about 100 people at its facility in Brookville.
Trail King had said in May it would temporarily close the Brookville plant for three months starting in June. Two months earlier, about 120 workers were laid off.
Trail King says it will consolidate production into plants in Mitchell, SD, and West Fargo, ND. The Brookville plant will operate until October.
Trail King is a subsidiary of Carlisle Cos. Inc., of Charlotte, NC.
Trail King laid off 36 employees at its West Fargo plant in March. Manager John Rust said that left a work force of 122. The company also said it would close the plant from June 8 to August 3.
