the rule of thumb is that if you can't count "1,001, 1,002" between the vehicle in front of you and a static object, like a phone pole, while following someone, you're too damned close...i can't even count how many times i've "brake-checked" some asshole who's on my bumper...had a bread delivery driver on my ass one time, tapped the brake, heard him lock 'em up and last i saw in my rearviews was him stopped in the road with loaves of bread all over the place...

Another rule of thumb is for every 10mph you are driving you are supposed to have 1 car length between you and the car in front of you, and if your driving a truck its 1 truck length per 10mph, so if your driving 70mph your supposed to have 7 truck lengths between you and the vehicle in front of you

Yeah, way too fuckin close. Who knows though, maybe that guy infront of the truck did something stupid in traffic and pissed off the guy in the truck, so he decided to pull up to his ass to get back at him. In that case I don't blame him at all, I seen plenty of retards think they did nothing wrong in traffic and they look at you like you're crazy when you cut them off and flip them the finger. But, it's most likely a bad idea to brake check a truck. It doesn't punish him, it hurts you and others around you in smaller vehicles. The only time I tailgate someone is when I'm doing a decent amount of speed and they come racing up behind me, pass me, only to cut back in the same lane and slow right down. People do that alot here, it's irritating. Or when you're gaining on someone, and you go out to pass and they speed up. I'll just follow them nice and close with my beams on.

idc what the people did there is no reason to tailgate them in a truck like that, just flat out unsafe, uncourteous and unprofessional

what is this for smartassery? That guy is just too close for that speed, in those conditions and with the weight he has. Even common sense would be enough to see that, no rules like "2 second gap" needed...

uhm.. so what?! got this shit every fuckin day a lot of times. i let my rig running close to slower people too, to scare them and get them to drive faster. i actually just do if theres a sign saying "70" and this pos just driving 50 or 55 kph. if people tailgating me, i usually first shift down and then let the jakebrake do the rest.. kinda funny if people just see you slow down without any braking light. someone even cussed at me for almost stopping without using my brake "its dangerous" he said.. i just laughed.

Although we've all done it I still think its bull shit to use your truck as an intimidation factor so what?! people who just drive plain slow to annoying you... or people that drive in front of you even though they see you coming down the road with a hell of speed compared to the lightweight car...

Thats what people get when they try to pull shit like that on my rear bumper Exactly what I do When people try to pull stupid shit when they're driving just cause they're in a hurry or something I make sure I fuck them up, it pisses me off when people are following you Then get in the other lane and pass you, then turn right I mean, they can get in the fuck behind me But, as I saw this I gotta agree with Chris too If people do something stupid to me, I'm going to retaliate somehow Whether it be tailgating them, or going around them and slowing down My 2 cents

Yeah I know people are in general just complete morons around trucks, and I know from the few times I've driven a truck I've done it to people to just to get my point across that they were being a douche, all I'm saying is that it isn't right but o well gotta teach the idiots a lesson somehow

just to be clear, Chris, when i say "brake check", i mean that i gently tap the brake pedal which activates the brake lights without actually slowing me down...if you're ridin' my ass, you're gonna get checked up...i don't give a fuck what you're driving...

I know what you meant by that, I do the same thing too. They should make a switch on the dash that activates the rear lights, so you can tell people to get off your ass without even having to use the brake at all. Alot of truck drivers are imbiciles in traffic these days. Hopefully the shitty economy weeds out the losers a bit more.
