I'm gonna have to let you guys try this game out for me. The system requirements look pretty demanding, and i don't feel like spending $50 to lag around in an old car. Lol.
Is it as much of a performance hog as it looks to be? Or is it about like FSX? If so then i can run it no prob..

Yeah I'm looking forward to playing it. If the story is anything as amazing as the first game I'll be happy. I'm def getting the PC version.

Just avoid buying the PS3 version if you can... contrary to what they originally said, they actually paid an unexperienced company to port the game to PS3 cheaply, and they haven't done a very good job at it. There's no grass, no blood, the frame rates are apparently poorer and the picture tears (this also happens to some extent on the Xbox too apparently), little things such as Vito's coat doesn't sway around and is stuck to him, etc.
Also, at the place I'm buying it, the console versions are £35 but the PC version is £25.

Lol^
Yeah I just went to a local GameStop and got the PC version no problem. I'm installing it now. I always go to this GameStop, luckily the guys who work there are cool and know what they're doing.

Glad to see you got the game Tom. I only had time to install and play a bit of the intro before going to a job but I'm home for the day now.
The games benchmark test gave me an average FPS of 28.7 with everythin on max at 1920x1200. The part with the burning building is what dropped the frame rate the most. Most of the time the FPS was between 30-45.
My setup is AMD Quad Core running at 3.2Ghz 4GB DDR3 Nvidia GTX275
Overally I can live with the frames but was hoping for better. Maybe a patch will increase performace down the road. Either way this looks like a really fun game.

Thanks for the info guys.
My processor is whats gonna hold me back.
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz Memory: 2048MB RAM Hard Drive: 200 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
I thought i'de have issues though with games like FSX and COD4. But i get a quite smooth 20-25 frames with FSX and 50-60 with COD4..Both on High settings. This game looks like a processor hog though. Guess i will just have to try it.

Nice screens Tom and he had no free-mode? YOu can't drive free around the city? Gonna speak french, so he can understand better En fait, faut que tu choisisses une mission, mais t'es pas obliger de la faire, donc tu fais ce que tu veux dans la ville à la place, un peu plate qu'il n'y ait pas de cycle jour-nuit mais bon, c'est la vie. Ah ok Merci Tom du renseignement! Now in english back on topic ;D

Thats a bummer they didn't give a free ride option. Mafia 1 had it and they had a "free ride extreme". Wish they did that for this one. I hate having to explore while you're supposed to be doing a mission.

I've heard that the PS3 version is going to have a DLC which adds some sort of free roam mode. Nothing planned for the PC though as far as I know. Apparently the story is really short, you could easily finish it within a day. Some guy said that he finished it in around 10 hours, and that included a good 2 - 3 hours driving around and messing about roaming. Other people are saying the same sort of thing. It's not really putting me off though, I still want it just as much as before lol. Gah, I still have to wait another 2 or 3 days until mine arrives

Dang..another short ass story mode. That ticks me off when there's about a days worth of play and then you have a $50 shelf piece. Guess i won't be buying it..

I'm on chapter 7 right now. I don't want to spoil the story but I just got through a type of "intermission" that I thought was pretty cool and I just got out of the snow and into the 50's era. I had a feeling the story wouldn't be that long, I mean I hoped it would be as long as GTA4 LOL, but the original Mafia didn't really have that many missions. I think it had about 12 of something. Mafia 2 (and 1) is/are that type of game you wish the story never ended because the levels are so fun and detailed. Once you beat it you just feel like driving around doesn't cut it. But having said that... If they are going to put some kind of free ride on PS3 they really should do it for all platforms. I mean come on no free ride

Thanks for the free-mode Luke, works great, nice to enjoy the game now. So yeah, I beat the game, took about 11-12 hours in difficult mode, the storyline was awesome, I could have take a lot more, but I guess we'll have to wait for the DLC's... Agreed. Good shots man.
