Well it looks like I need to either build a new system or go back to my old system setup. The power supply as you know is messed up. And now it also looks like my motherboard that I just installed not to long ago is messed up as well. Most definitely because of the power supply.
Now my system isn't shutting down properly. It starts to but it gets to the screen that says "Windows is shutting down" and my power button on the front of my case turns off but the system remains running. And the monitor stays on that screen. Then I have to press the power button on my case to shut it down fully.
To boot it up I have to remove the motherboard battery & reinstall it. After that I can turn on the power switch on the power supply then the power button on the front of my case. If I enter the BIOS to set it up like I used to and saved and exited the BIOS it won't restart properly. So I have to use the default BIOS settings in order to boot to Windows. So the motherboard must be messed up after 4 - 5 months of use. As I had to buy a replacement for my original (same board).
Another thing is that my computer will not restart if I try to from my Windows desktop start menu. It shuts down as it should, but then it will not load my Asus screen and continue through normal booting up procedures. And I have to manually shut it down and go through the motherboard battery process to get anywhere.
So my system is screwed up. A reformat of the hard drive may resolve these issues, but I am doubting it. Seems to me my messed up power supply has caused my motherboard to become messed up as well. Heck,my hard drive might even be messed up. I don't know. I'm frustrated to the max and I'm about to give up computers all together. I've invested $1400 plus into this current build and I've gotten no where. I am going to send the power supply back hopefully before the week is out and wait for one to be returned. And while I am at it I mise well "try to" warranty my motherboard as its OEM. Maybe I will have things sorted out after the return(s) and I may move forward with computers. If not, then I may just leave this all behind. I just can't deal with this type of frustration and continue to invest thousands of dollars if this is what I'm going to encounter. I just don't know. This is probably coming off as a rant, and I guess it is. Sorry, but I just needed to get this out.

Sean I have 2200 into my setup, and its down right now for the same reason. It wont even start up anymore. I finally just got a cheap system and am going to do minor upgrades as I see fit to save money. You might want to look into it.

If you're having that many problems, it'd be easier (and cheaper) to buy a complete new computer... and a decent one at least.

Im not sure what haulin sean all does with his computer, but if all you do is play truck sims.....a liquid cooled computer is over kill. I can run anything out there on my other machine, and it's not liquid cooled.

@signmasher: There is no way in hell I'll buy any computer. Not one single computer company can give you what you want at a cheap enough price. I'll build 2 for what they would want.
I will get this sorted out if I have to buy a newer motherboard unless I can get mine covered under warranty. Only problem is its a OEM and Asus doesn't warranty OEM's. But the company I purchased it from told me the manufacturer (Asus) will warranty it. The power supply is covered for 5 years and its only been 2 1/2 to 3 years. I didn't actually use it until about a year after I bought it. On the other hand the mobo might be fine and its the hard drive causing these issues.
@harleyoutlaw: I use my computer for many things. Not just truck simulators. And I went liquid cooled because I had planned of overclocking my cpu as much as I could. I've got a AMD Athlon XP FX-55 cpu. Which can be pushed to 3.4GHz with liquid cooling with out issue. Plus its a gaming cpu. Although I wasn't going to push it that far, maybe to 3.0GHz unless my system was not stable. Then I would have only gone to 2.8GHz (its 2.6GHz stock). But this is my first and only liquid cooled system. I will never use a liquid cooling system ever again, well unless they figure out how to make coolant that won't harm electronics. Don't see that happening though.
And for your system not starting up,your in a worse boat than I am. I can get my computer to boot up. I just have to mess with it some. But as to why its not shutting, restarting,or booting up properly now, could be mobo or hard drive related. Maybe even cpu related. I don't know as this is the first time its ever happened to me. I need to talk with my fathers friend. He would know as he works with computers for a living. If all else fails I'll reinstall my old system components. Never had a problem with it. It would just need a newer AGP card as it was an AGP system. This one is PCI-E. I'll get it sorted unless I decide to go ahead and upgrade the 3 main components.

Mine sounded like it was going to take off like a jet for a long time. I got some compressed air and that seemed to fix the problem. Then one day, it just wouldnt turn back on. Not sure what's wrong with it really.

Does your power supply have a on/off switch? I'm just curious if it does or not. But does your mobo have a LED light that lights up when the mobo is powered up? If it does and it doesn't light up that would be an indicator that the motherboard is dead. Which would be the reason its not turning on now.
Not really sure what would cause the jet like sound. Possibly the cpu fan or other fans or even the hard drive. If your mobo has a LED that lights when its powered up and you have an extra internal hard drive I'd hook it up and see if it will turn on. But I don't think you need a hard drive hooked up to be able to turn on the computer. And I doubt its a memory problem. Its either a mobo, cpu,or power supply issue.

Sorry to jack your thread but the light on the motherboard that says it's getting power is green. So I'm not real sure.

I guess it's not the same as here then... when I was getting a new computer, I shopped round for stuff to build it myself as well as ready built, and there wasn't a great deal of difference between the 2 price wise.

@harleyoutlaw: Not a problem. I don't mind at all. Hmm. Nothing happens at all when you push the computer power button? No fans spin,no hard drive noise,no nothing. When I shorted out my original mobo it worked but was a pain to get the pc to boot up. Check to see if any unhooked cables are contacting any mobo pins. If any are that may cause it not to power on. Its kind of hard to determine what the defective component is. But I am thinking its either a cpu or mobo problem. Pull your hard drive out of that pc and hook it up in your back up pc and see if it works. Then turn your back up pc on and see if your files are corrupted on that hard drive. You should be able to rule out a hard drive failure by doing that. Do you remember it acting up like booting slowly or programs opening slowly? Thats one indicator that the hard drive is failing. I'm just thinking to the best of my knowledge as to what the problem could be. @signmasher: Well if I was to purchase a new computer thats ready to go I'd buy a Dell XPS desktop. I've already looked into it and for what I'd want it would cost me a little over $3,000. Thats why I said I could build a couple for the price they'd want. I won't go to a local retailer to purchase one though. Not after what happened when my father bought our first pc. But if your looking to build your own then you need to check out Newegg.com. I built both of my builds through them. They've got the cheapest prices and their shipping is outstanding. I usually get my order within 3 - 4 days after ordering. Heres a small list of websites that could get you started if you want to put your own together. www.newegg.com/www.performance-pcs.com/www.xoxide.comwww.tigerdirect.com/www.frys.com/www.buy.com/www.zipzoomfly.com/Sean

Once you know,You Newegg! lol!
Yup I saved about $100 on my Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB Toxic Edition using them. Everywhere else I looked they wanted around $320 for it. When I can get whatever I want for my computer I use Newegg. And they usually have what I want. Every once in a while I have to go elsewhere to get it.

Hello Everyone, Hey I just wanted to stop in and let those who are my friends know I won't be around for a couple weeks. As you may know I've been experiencing computer related issues. Tomorrow afternoon I am going to be RMA'ing my power supply and get it taken care of. However,I may reinstall my build one components just so I can visit all the forums I post at. I don't know yet if I will or not though. So take it easy guys and I'll see you around soon (I hope). Sean
