how do you guys add more faces to models in zmodeler? im doing a lil experment on a low-poly cab model to make it a bit better

Remake it, insert vertices, or create polygons.

Mesh quality doesn't have near the impact of texture quality.

Truth! That and material properties. Most small details are better handled with textures than geometry; mip maps + anisotropic filtering handle level of detail far more smoothly than geometry. Unless you get into tesellation/displacement maps...
