Why is when I get into a job and everything is going well shit falls through the floor. Been happy so far with the truck, route and schedule but after 6 months in this season things need attention and I have been getting zero response.
My driver seat has been worn out and is now to the point of making me real sore only after 2 hours on the road. Also the 5th wheel has been on the list in the shop because it's pretty sloppy and already been adjusted to the max. Not to mention it took months to get my AC fixed and the shop really didn't fix it. It was the myself and a tech at another shop that figured it out. The other thing was the engine fan which wasn't cooling the engine off and only me constantly complaining about it was finally fix when the owner saw me hosing the radiator out. I'm assuming he went to the mechanic and asked if the truck was running hot and he probably took credit for thinking it was a bad fan.
So when my direct boss ask me about taking a trip to Wyoming soon I tell him that the 5th wheel was really letting the trailer bang forward when I'm taking off loaded and I think it's worse now and also mentioned the seat was bothering me now. So he tells me he went to the mechanic who responded with those are expensive items you need to ask the owner. So my boss tells me he follows up with telling his boss the owner and his only response was hmmphh and walked off.
Alright hope some of this makes sense I'm in the car after a bad mood monday.

Get out of the thing because if something happens your going to get blamed. You could have a bad accident and kill yourself or someone else and they will say if you knew it was like that why did you drive it.Catch22 mate not worth your life and rep or anyone else's

This reminds me of when i was in Laredo TX and had no load PLUS NO AC went to the Schneider OC to get it fixed and found out that the whole company of like 200,000 drivers only have one AC tech for the entire state so i ended up going to freightliner paying 1800 to get my ac back

Estes had a truck with a worn out 4th wheel and it took the driver saying no way in hell and not driving it until a new one was put on it. The seat, you should ride in my 359. Eldorado seat which never rides good, not even new. The shock is worn out and the travel doesn't really work. I beg and beg that jackass owner to get a new one but he's too damn cheap. That asshole...

You guys.. Only one truck on that harvest crew I was with had ac, and it was the boss'. The seats, well you can kiss air ride goodbye, and every one of them was broke down to pieces. Not to mention all the 5th wheels were loose, the 359 didn't have a single shock on the rear end and none of the trucks had good rubber. All had good brakes, tranny, and motor, rest was junk. Lights? What are those.. lol

WE keep our trucks tip top shape, mostly because before ginning season gets rolling and the drivers get here we tell them to test drive their truck and come back with any problems. DOT comes every august and inspects our trucks, then the drivers get them...........then a month later the trucks got some kind of housing cracked lol

I tell you if that nice Western Commodity Express comes off the truck loaded with 65k in it there goes a 65000 dollar trailer it will buckle. I have done my fair share of shitty seats and I'm getting told old for this shit. I have almost 8 years experience and most of my experience is with flat bed but I've done dump to a little bit of heavy haul. I like flexible schedule. I just got away from working 65 hours a week my family likes me home more.
I've had more weather check retread blow up on me at this company than all the other jobs combined. I've had a yoke nut come off and drop a drive line cruising down the road on the dump truck.
That poor old truck. I drove it all last year with the engine shot. Blew every kind of smoke under the sun. They finally took it to cummins to see what they said and turns out it was some bad injector sleeves but that also took out the bottom end. Also ended up being a N14 with 444 heads or something messed up like that. They ended up rebuilding it. I drove it a few times this year and it runs so much better now sense it's built correctly. But now it's side lined because of the walking beam bushings I told them last year were bad are now so bad the rear axle walks so much it will rub and blow out tires. Seems like a waste to rebuild the engine and then park it several months later for suspension bushings.
Last job they would fix the trucks we used an out side shop and he was a real good mechanic. However they worked us to death. Worked their with my dad and we both got worn out. Made good money only based on a ton of over time. And the small regional run I did was pretty cool but the per mile pay did not keep up with OT pay I was use to. Thought I was in a good spot now bringing home the same checks at like 42 as the 65 hour job.

I've yet to find the sweet spot for experience. Guys like me can't get anything because I have basically no experience, you have several years, but not enough for some places with better equipment and pay, and dad's got over 30 and some places don't want him because he's too experienced, or he won't work there because there's not enough money and/or trucks are junk. I guess about 10-11 years you can start getting what you want. lol Well, unless you buy your own truck, then you're in control.

god bless german laws about this. you will never find a truck with a worn out or loose 5th wheel. we got twice a year checks by eigther the TÜV (checks for brakes, lights etc.) or a shop that is allowed to do the SP (visual inspection). Both needs to be done every 6 months, eigther TÜV or SP. I have to do that this month: SP on the Truck, TÜV on the chassi. Quite annoying but I know it's great for the safety of me and people around me.
I wouldn't even do a single trip with a loose 5th wheel tbh. No fix? No ride. If it fails and you kill someone due to this, you're going to prison - Atleast thats what happens in germany. Shouldn't be any different in Murcia where a hot coffee can ruin your whole life, or make you rich as fuck.

Yea good luck with that. I have 2 months driving experience, I have to work at places that aren't as big on safety and 100% functional trucks because I don't have any experience to demand anything. Gotta live with it or go somewhere else, my options to go somewhere else are very very limited.

Well, thats the problem. There are people driving whatever it's save, or the salary is okay, they just want the job. We have this problem here too. But we have that with salary, people ruin the prices with acting like this. If anyone would denie getting paid just the half of what I get paid, the companys had to change their attitude. So it goes for safety things.
Always remember, if shit hits the fan, your boss is not in front of the fan - you're in front! you will go to prison or get sued until you six feet under.

That's pretty true Luder. It's a hard balancing act on what's bad enough to walk off to another job. I'm still working on them about my truck. Curious Luder how's the salary in your area? Are you paid by load, kilometers, or hourly? I'm hourly driver and it's a big plus
Well trucks in the shop tomorrow so I hope they find a 5th wheel for it. I'm sure they are going to check the salvage yards first. my opinion is that chasing your tail but it would be better than now.
Today was the first time unhooked in weeks and you can see some definite wear on the king pin was well. The mechanic says he's ordering a new pin. Nice thing about the commididty express is the 5th wheel plate unbolts so it should be too bad. My fingers are crossed though that this all gets done.
I'm gonna guess the owner will shit bricks with the bill and a replacement drivers seat won't happen .

I make 2450€ (2724$) without taxes and with about 1950€ (2168$) per month. Not getting paid by hour. I'm in the top 3 payment wise in my area.
Jobs like mine you only get with experience for sure. Start up payment is about 500 - 800€ less depending all on the Company. I always said what I want. Eighter you pay for quality work or not.
Here you can choose the company. Tho my Boss offered the job to me due to my experience of 5 years can hauling...
In the end its your call... noone force you to operate not safe and secure trucks.
