The one or two people who visit SCR may have noticed a few layout changes lately. I'm currently working on a ' tag filter' for the various download sections, visible above the page navigation. I got as far as making the form and all the coding that generates it done tonight. Next step will be making the coding that actually filters the downloads. Anyways, I want to get a few opinions on the concept and whether you guys think it is a useful feature or not. The way I'm storing tags is that each has a 'type' and a 'relevance' that controls how they group and which pages they appear on. For example, you won't find 'Peterbilt' as a brand tag on a trailer download page. Also, if there are any other features you guys have a burning desire to see, let me know.

Well, still no AO, but I got Lightbox integrated with the download images, and on the projects page. The tag filter is still a week or so away; It works, but I want to make it more robust before I set it loose.

I was looking through the site and noticed on this page: scr-rigs.com/index.php?act=pttm_trk&p=5 that the "FLCC Flattop Single Axle" has a picture of a flattop freightliner century, just a heads up other than that I'm impressed! Nice to see some DL sites still around.

Nice to see some DL sites still around. Yeah, I used to have a much tighter character limit on the title field. FLCC was Freightliner Century Class. Now that I look at it, that is very much a tandem in that picture. I'll have a look when I get home and sort that out.

If anything, I'm learning a metric shit-ton of php, javascript, etc. in this process. That said, I'm pretty sure I'm ready to go insane. I'm working towards implementing rating and comments, hence having user accounts.

Are you using the 3C Schools Web site for all this ? That's the site I used when I was doing simple programming for my kids neopets accounts back forever ago. Pretty useful information on there.

I use it for reference, along with Stack Exchange and Learning PHP, MySQL & Javascript 4ED (ISBN 978-1-4919-1866-1). Neopets is a blast from the past. I vaguely remember when that was new.

If I ever start coding again I will half to keep those sites in mind. We joined neopets about a year after it hit the Web and been on there ever since. I don't play anymore but my wife and kids love it. The wife is on everyday.

Part of this process is also to make administration a little easier. I've got WYSIWYG posting/editing for news posts and tutorials up and running on my test server. It'll be pretty nice not having to type news posts out in HTML. There are a few other upcoming features visible.

Ratings are close to completion. I just have to add the ability for users to remove a rating, and a little better dynamic functioning (i.e. hovering mechanics a la IMDb, and redisplaying the ratings after a user submits a rating).

It's been a while since I followed up with this thread (whoops!). The rating system has been in place and working for quite some time now, but is limited to registered, logged-in users. I think I'm the only one registered besides my roommate (who decided he was going to poke around for vulnerabilities and went away disappointed). I will be adding a related feature to mark mods as favourites with the intention of making a notification system for when updates are available, etc.
I've started adding some support for Workshop as well. The first such feature is that mods with a Workshop page now have a workshop link. I've also made the download link system a little more robust in terms of being able to link to an external host or link only to Workshop. In the future I want to use the Steam API to allow registered, logged-in users to directly un/subscribe via SCR and to be able to display workshop data (number of favourites, subscribers, etc).
