The daycab variant is decent but I agree with Seb. It's not as hard on the environment and you save money on fuel by driving a horribly ugly piece of shit, but part of trucking is driving a beautiful machine with black smoke pouring out the stacks. Soon all the classics will be scrapped and we'll be stuck with these..

It's actually one of the better looking aero trucks, imo!

Kenworthman, yeah, I'm for the classics too. But with all of these regulations, they are becoming a dying breed. Colonel, I agree! It's actually a nice looking aero truck, which can't be said about a lot of newer models. The Prostar+ is decent, but the Cascadia and the T680 aren't my favorite rides as far as looks are concerned.

I mean it is a Western Star, so I can't say anything too bad about it. That being said, I'd still much rather have a 4964 instead of this.

Im just saying its one of the better aero looking trucks. I would take a older long hood truck too, but im kinda digging this one.

For it being an aero truck and in this day and age, it doesn't look that bad! I can pretty much agree with what you guys are saying compared to the Cascadia and T680, it seems Western Star went to great lengths to really showcase their new model. It's gonna take some getting used to but I'm sure seeing them on the road or up close in person will change some views. I was just at a Freightliner/Western Star dealer today taking pictures but I'll give it a few months time to see when this new 5700 comes in! (I'll take requests for ref pics when the time comes lol)

The sad thing is that every time I look at it I am eternally reminded of the new optimus prime. My brain just shits bricks when I think of that pos truck. lol

I was gonna go on a tangent here but i'll just say good luck to western star on this one. It's a cool looking truck and all but this thing isn't gonna get near the aerodynamics as their competition. Plus, that hood.... kill it with fire and buy a lowmax or 4900ex. Edit: apparently it's gonna do good against competition. We'll see. Here's a few pics of the interior. I like the big gauges, but they broke the cool pattern, and the steering wheel looks pretty damn nice I gotta admit..

Yeah, it's not going to break any records for aerodynamics, but I guess they can say "We make an aero truck, too." It might have some popularity with people looking for a slightly classic looking truck with some aero benefits, but who knows. And Colonel, that truck was basically the first reveal of this one. I just found some really nice sized pictures for all you sig makers. They are too big to post, so here's the site link www.trucknews.com/equipment/western-star-gallery/1003059756#/

I've seen worse than this.
It actually looks pretty good, at least they didn't go full retard on the interior.

I've never been a big WS fan, but this is really cool. I think it looks like a Western Star, Kenworth, Ford, Volvo, and Peterbilt all rolled into one.

The hood only kills it because of the body colored bits, they throw the whole style of the truck off, a one piece chrome bumper would look a lot better, and the middle of the grille would be fine chrome as well. Minus those, it doesn't look bad.
As far as the automatic? Every manufacturer does that now in any renders or whatever it seems like, they'll show what an automatic would look like because companies have been looking for those options more - Which is the larger market for aerodynamic trucks. Don't get your panties in a bunch, unless they say otherwise, I'm fairly sure they'll have manual. Ain't the end of the world.

Well one thing is for sure and that is the fact that WS has still got it in them to build a nice damn truck. Its different than anything they have done in the past and is much more pleasing to the eye than some of the other new " shit " on the road these days. Im like everyone else I would much rather drive a nice classic truck but in 20 years this will be considered classic and the trucks we love today considered antique. I know its just a marketing thing with the automatic look inside but truth is a manual transmission is cheaper on fuel than an automatic. I could take a daycab automatic fld in the military and fill it up roughly 250 gallons of fuel and get 2/3rd's the mileage out of it that I could the same damn fld with a manual 10 speed. Not that I cared because I wasnt paying for it. My personal opinion is this is a very nice looking truck and I would drive it anyday over a prostar / cascadia / coronado / T680 or anything released in the last 4 or 5 years.
