Gonna see if you can swap em out? Just don't try and dump the clutch on that 'ole B model. Something has to give, and it'll either be the motor, trans, or something in the driveline.

Originally had a B model. I'd like to put it back in because its original to the truck and they make more power suped up. Not sure if I wanna busy out the money for a reman cat or not. If I'm making everything else new, why not the motor?

It would be awesome if you could find the original numbers matching motor. But if you can't, then a motor from cat, I'm pretty sure they still sell the B model. Actually, that would probably be the best way to go, since you get a newly rebuilt/brand new engine under warranty with cat. That would be good. Might aswell throw in a new transmission while your at it( I dont remember you saying anything about what you're doing with it), a 15 speed or a 13 would be more original, but an 18 speed could be useful if you wanna do heavy stuff with it.

ERRRRNT WRONG B model died in 92 early 93 production year with the advent of the C model, then when E models come out they were same Idea different block. The only difference between turning up a B to an A is you have to do it twice with a B model. I suggest a early mechamical C if you can find one. C has strong bearings and such.

I thought you could at least get rebuilt motors from Cat directly? I guess he could get a new c15 or 6nz if he wanted to. lol

I think the oldest the still have is the late E models. I think don't quote me. Last I knew you could still get rebuild kits for B&C models. Ive got a couple platinum kits left from when we had a lot of trucks with those motors in them. If he drops a electronic motor in it I'll personally blow his truck up.

Who in their right mind would put a 318 in a truck that already has a 400? A 318 is worthless as hell if you actually gonna use it, Detroit wasn't really worth a damn until the Series 60 came out. Yeah the 71 series sucked. Even the BUZZIN DUZZIN V12s everyone thinks are so cool their hard to keep together and no need to change oil they burn and leak it all. I forget which one either the 8-71 or 12-71 they didn't recommend oil changes only filter changes.

Patrick Lund just bought a reman crate B model from Cat a few months ago. I'd love to put a 3408 in it but that'd get so terrible mileage you couldn't make a profit of any kind. Either going with a 15, 18 or 6+4 for the transmission.
Early ATA C model with a mechanical pump would be good.

Has a tan EXHD with a long frame. Pulls a double drop I think.

Nah, it's just a 1989 379 with a special paintjob. It's maroon and gold with a "50" on the sleeper.

I'd think they'd look better with blue and a white or silver stripes but they didn't ask me.
