Well as most of you guys know, I have this green 83 ranger. Well I love stepside bed more then I do regular beds. So since they dont make stepside for this year range of ford ranger, Im custom making one. Ill post pics as I go. Heres what I got so far... Heres the new pic of it. Put chrome window trim around the windshield also. How "wide" the bed will be. One side off Both sides off Starting the frame work Mock up of the fender ill be using on it. Its for the passenger side though haha Should turn out really well. Next friday ill have what I need to make the box. Ill take pics as I go like always. Next plan is to make the sides and and the back. It wont have a tailgate. Its gonna be one piece. Itll give it more of the custom look im going for.

Looks pretty cool, and will definitely be something different. I'll be excited to see the finished product!

Pretty awesome, hefty project for sure. I agree, I'm a huge stepside fan, always looks better than the fleet sides in my opinion.

I agree with Tyler. Stepsides had some personality. Correction: They have personality.

Put the bed back on the truck for now. Had to cut the fenders. Their just basically on their for mock up. Friday ill be getting the sheet metal to cut to make the side and the back. Heres some newest pics. Roughly where and how the fenders will sit on the truck Not sure if ill move the fenders out like 1/4" or not yet. Im gonna get the bed box built first then go from there. And yes ill be covering the pieces I cut out in the rear fenders later on.

5'x10' 16ga. sheet metal Passenger side isn't done as far as the driver side. But this is how far I got it. Built a custom frame in the front so it looks half decent. Fender mock up to see what it will roughly look like. I have different plans for the fuel neck. Gonna hold off on that for now though. Finished the rear frame work on the driver side. Still have to do the passenger side yet. Then again theres still a pile of stuff I have to do. I might make a tailgate for it but not sure yet.

Thanks showtime. Side are pretty much done. The width of the bed is only 39" hahaha Dont mind all the junk hahaha And I decided to make a Tailgate also. The side are more sturdy then I thought they would be. I can rock the whole truck and they barely move so I know they built good haha Also later down the road I am going to get some little things welded up. Like the corners and stuff. I just dont have a mig welder to do so.

Put one fender on with two bolts so I can see what its going to look like. Man Do I really like it. I think it looks bad ass IMO. I also put the inner plastic pieces on the inside of the fender from the old pieces of the bed. Found it pretty awsome how the body lines even pretty much match up too. Im having a blast building this bed.

Changed the rear end around. Just wasn't liking the big chrome rear bumper that much. The grey piece that goes onto the fender will be bolted to the fender to make it more sturdy. Thinking about using diamond plate for the top of the gray piece for like a little step. Going to move the filler neck to inside of the bed. Then im going to do the same thing for the other three "Steps" i guess you'd called it. The corners of the rear bumper will be welded so itll be a nice smooth sorta rounded corner. Friday ill have the exhaust tubing to to make the rounded part on top of the bed. Will post pics when I get the change to get stuff done.

Blackace, I plan on doing Iron cross brake/tail lights. Probably ones for like motorcycles and street rods. And for reverse lights im just gonna have an white led strip either between the tailgate and the rear bumper or somewhere. Not to sure yet haha. And Corby, ever heard of shaved door handles? haha

You can shave off emblems and mirrors or whatever you feel like doing. I seen it where people even shaved their taillights just to custom make their own. To open my doors, you put the key in the door lock and turn and then it opens. Took me awhile to figure it out. A lot of people use push buttons and stuff. I didn't want to go electric just cause of how cold it gets here in PA. But Heres another little update. Painted the fender primer grey to match the bed. Looks a lot better.

You would be able to rebuild the truck like you do tho, but will have to go thru Quebec's inspection and Canada's And do you plan on moving the gas tube?

Suspension laws are pretty restricted where i live too. But then again, why would someone lift a 2wd truck anyway? Actually that ranger might look sick if you lowered it a bit. And do you have a compressor and a paint gun or is that all spray bomb? Good progress so far though.

Actually that ranger might look sick if you lowered it a bit. That would be so fucking sick. But do it Professionally. No cutting the coils or stupid halfass technique. Buy lowriding parts. And How about Nascar type rims? Made a research for you, and they come out pretty affordale Click here

The fillerneck is going inside of the bed. Going to get a rubber hose and go off the tank straight up through the bed. and im not lowering it. where i live, the truck would shred apart from all the hills i have to go up. Dirt roads that is. And im not changing the rims. I got over 1200 just in rims and tires on the truck. the truck will look better when i get it done and when its not all half assed put together..
