I got a new computer about a week ago with Windows 10 and I installed my copy of Extreme Trucker 2 onto it. The first thing I noticed is that the game didn't want to load... So far I've concluded that you cannot use your GFX override settings to apply AA into the game as the Win10 drivers aren't yet compatible... You have to use the in game AA setting (which is actually very good msaa)
1. Make sure your NVIDIA/ATI control panel settings are at "Application-controlled/Off" (If you have an ATI card I'm not sure how you'll do this)
2. Now you'll need to go into your config (My Documents/18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2/config.cfg) and make sure these lines are as follow:
uset r_msaa "1"
uset g_developer "1"
*Probably not required, but I do it anyway in order to use the debug camera "0"
uset g_console "1"
Save it
3. Now locate the extremetrucker.exe usually found in:
[C:/Program Files (x86)/18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2/bin/win_x86/extremetrucker.exe] for normal
[C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/18 WoS Extreme Trucker 2/bin/win_x86/extremetrucker.exe] for Steam users.
Right click on extremetrucker.exe and select Properties. Open the Compatibility panel
Adjust it as follows:
Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Select "Windows 7"
Then check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" (This fixes a "static" resolution of 1280x699 problem that I encountered)
4. Now that that's done we can run the game
Once the game pops up all you have 2 choices:
Open the console [`]
Type "g_msaa 8" or "g_msaa 16" (depending on how much AA you prefer)
or
Go into the Options/Graphics and do it from there
The first choice is the faster choice if you tend to open and close the game a lot
Once you're done playing the game, reset the AA to 1x in the options or by typing in the console: "g_msaa 1"
If you do not reset the AA, the next time you open ET2 it will crash and give you an OpenGL Kernel Error
I hope this helps anyone who's having trouble with Windows 10... I think most games can be fixed by doing the compatibility troubleshooter
