I think we need this thread.
Discuss anything here about the latest blog posting from SCS software.

I see why they'd add a stronger anti piracy, with ppl selling keygen keys and whatnot. But honestly it's kinda weird how they'd even know how many ppl are pirating the game unless they are collecting information from you through their software...

they really have no idea how many people are pirating, no one does...they just use that as a scare tactic

All you have to do is Google 'Euro Truck Simulator 2' to find out how popular it is to pirate the game.

Cocksuckers really can't just fork up $40 for what is currently their best work? I'll admit the price is a bit high, but seriously, wtf?

I bought it solely for the purpose of supporting SCS in future projects.

I bought it solely for the purpose of supporting SCS in future projects. This^ If nobody buys their games, there's no way in hell that we'll ever see another American SCS trucksim game. and lets face it, with SCS out of the picture, the trucksim market seems pretty slim.

Compared to their other games it is definitaly worth more money. I just hope they keep improving with each game from here on.

I have bought all of their american games since haulin, but i refuse to buy european games, if we make an ats for ets2 then i will purchase the game after it is finished. I understand the "supporting future projects" but i wont buy european truck sims, i don't like euro trucks that much.

I bought it solely for the purpose of supporting SCS in future projects. Same reason as me, as much as I don't like to spend money, it was well worth the 40 bucks. Devs need to eat, too!

Here's the first news of non-free ETS2 content: Now don't get your panties all in a bunch, patches and the official logos for Volvo and the other brand will still be free, they just want to sell extra content on the side. I personally probably wont buy it, but I don't see it as an issue.

It looks amazing but I am just not a Euro guy and thats why I have not bought it yet. I really do want to support SCS but I just wont spend $40 on something I wont play. I actually think charging for content is a good idea as well.

Only reason I don't really buy the Euro games, is hell....I'm not a huge fan of the truck designs and unless there's mods or a map for it, it's not worth $40 to me for a game that's only going to take up hard drive space. Someone needs to show them these communities and say "HERE, is your consumers for an American game!" It's enough to make some pretty good money off of all of us. I'd pay out the ass for a nice American truck sim and I'm sure the rest of yall would too.

Problem with that is so few people would actually buy it. The rest would pirate it. Its just the way we are. If they could make an American game that could not be pirated then it would work. If they didn't make money from it then we would never see another American version ever.

The scs blog and forum is full of people complaining about 10 dollars, and its sad because one Obrx airport add on in FSX 30 cost dollars, or Carenado GA plane cost 30 dollars. SCS hope it can survive this because I want American Truck Sim. Train and Plane sim people spend in the thousands.

If they didn't make money from it then we would never see another American version ever. Many software companies can combat piracy enough to make it less damaging to their bottom line. I just feel SCS has not put a lot of effort into until recently. One of the first big steps IMO was that the game is now avaiable on Steam. While nothing they do will completely stop piracy, all these little things they are doing can help out in the long run. I also don't understand why some feel that SCS owes them an American game. They are a european company, which seems to be doing quite well with euro games. I doubt anyone here knows about the US truck sim market and its capacities as I would hope SCS would know if they were to do this. Just saying that there are a lot of people on this site that would want the games, doesn't mean that there is enough people to undertake such a game, a lot of people may not buy. Mileage may vary...

If they want to start doing DLC they should just do what Railworks does. Sell the core game for like $30 bucks and then make a lot of DLC content available in trucks, maps, scenarios or whatever, European and North American. They could update the engine and some gameplay elements yearly or something. It would probably also lower piracy as people could just buy what they want. A rail simulator is much more popular than these games probably would be, but they can follow that recipe on a smaller scale and I feel like that would be more successful than what they are doing now.

Exactly, just to buy a train is 30.00 that not even with the track people still do it. X-plane 10 is 80.00 and people buy 3rd party general aviation planes, fmc items, clouds, textures. The kids crying 10 Euros is too much they never realized developers need to eat too.

I doubt anyone here knows about the US truck sim market and its capacities as I would hope SCS would know if they were to do this. Look at their older projects, their biggest market was the American one ever since Hard Truck 18 wos or Across America. It wasn't until they started with ETS that they started getting a bigger European market. There is still a huge demand for a good American simulator throughout this community, and you see them as either still playing Haulin or converting their stuff from that to GTS. We've had to make compromises for quite a while now, and if SCS can swing back this one time they'll get their US market back. I'm sure. Why should they make a new american game? We've been stuck with the same stuff and have been making huge compromises for over 6 years while they take care of the Euro market. I think that's pretty fair, but we've been kind of left in the dark for a little longer than we'd like. Normally I would just speak for myself but I'm sure everyone else feels the same way.

Apparently you have to some how activate your mods with the latest patch. They keep changing stupid shit like this I'll make sure I never buy one of these games again. They already suck ass for the most part anyways.

Lord knows that being able to use different sets of mods on different profiles (ie. different maps both in the mod folder, using different profiles) is a terrible change...

I think it's pointless and annoying. Drag and drop into the mod folder worked like a charm.
