What do y'all think? Made from scratch, no reference picture. It's part of a bigger project too, so stay tuned.

Looks good, I know rh on FS UK knows his way around the AO texture thing Yeah, I'm in contact with milpol trying to understand his tutorial. It might be his version of the program. If he can't help me, I'll post a topic on there. But at least I seem to be getting Blender itself. What's your username on FS-UK? I'll add you to my buddy list.

Well, some of you have wondered about where I have gone. To the land of Blender. The model is originally from Sketchup, but only the cab, hood, and doors remain. The frame, suspension, bumper, headlights, grille, tanks, tank steps, and axle are made by me, and the cab and hood have been extensively cleaned up, and smoothed.

More progress. Tanks and boxes complete. Now on to the suspesion, interior, and a whole bunch of other things that will take too much time to list.

Getting ready for release. Chris, somehow your wheels on on 3d warehouse. I'm using these only for a placeholder, but I'm not going to release the truck with these on it. Just wanted to let you know. There's actually a lot of stuff from here on there. Stuff from e150vanhalen (I'm probably misspelling it, sorry), Ivan, and so on.

Yeah, I would do that, but the problem is the wheels themselves, from being converted to Sketchup are filled with issues. The wheels themselves are fine, but Sketchup just has problems.
I'm going to make some wheels myself with Blender, and put those on.
But you're right.

I like that shade of green. It looks good on that truck. Looks like she's coming together pretty well. Are you going to slip an engine under the hood or are you going to leave her empty. Also would you like to set her up to work with dural's more realistic mod? I happen to be a tester. He sent us some basic info & examples to start converting mods and he told us we could share with trusted friends. If you are interested PM me on either site. Also your other truck above would look good as a cotton module truck.(hint hint) I've got a field full of cotton, a harvester to make round bales, and I'm working on a regular cotton harvester, a boll buggy, and a module maker. Sandgroper said he would make the cotton gin. all I need is a cotton module truck.(hint hint)

Thanks @captainslow. Well, for me, cost is the deciding factor. I originally worked with Sketchup, but never figured it out, so I gave up after about a day and maybe a half. Then I starting looking for a new game that included driving since I bought a really good wheel and never had a game to go with it. I looked around at the mods, didn't see much American stuff, so I decided to try to change the tune a bit and get some American trucks in game. Actually now that I look at it, there aren't many good trucks for this game from any country or continent. I've been working with Blender on an occasional basis for about two to three months, and I have a really good "tutor" on FS-UK who knows Blender better than I know my dog. So that's been awesome, and I've just started with converting some Sketchup models, including the basic shell of this one and a couple parts I've ripped from some other Sketchup models. My next mod will likely be done 100% from scratch, so that's going to be a challenge. And I just started UV mapping in the last couple weeks. So I'm getting that down too. The only thing that helped me with 3d modeling other than a lot of failures and trying again was my 2d drawing skills. I can draw really good trucks both with a computer and by hand, so I've tried to transfer that into 3d. I would have loved to try 3ds Max, but I like the word free. smith121363, I'll give it a try. Let me get the tractor version through my in-gamer first, and then I'll start working on some additional bodies. I'm planning a grain box as well and maybe a flatbed. With the chassis done, the options are endless, but I'll put that one at the top of my list of ideas. And I'll send over a PM in a bit.

seriousmods, If there is any way possible, you need to make the 5th wheel slidable on your trucks and sliding tandems on your trailers.. With dural's mod, being able to move the 5th wheel and the tandems would help balance the loads. And yes it is that realistic. He has done one hell of a job bringing realism to the game. I think it is getting very close to being the simulator it was supposed to be.
