Could it be the fact I'm using an HMDI cable?

Depends on the game you're playing. Some games only support 8x AA, others support more. If you use sweetfx or some other kind of graphics booster like that you can force more. You might be able to boost more with nvidia inspector too. Games like ETS2, ET2, Haulin, I cant force AA above 8x, and with my 650 on my old pc I was able to force more Try updating your graphics drivers and try to set it up for each game with forced aa.

Also what are your pc specs? The Gtx 980 might be bottlenecked.

Could it be the fact I'm using an HMDI cable? I wouldn't think so, try uninstalling and re installing drivers. The only limitations I know about hdmi, is that you can only get 60 fps with them, if I'm not mistaken. If that does not work, you could try switching cables to see if that was the issue. Let us know how it goes

Ok, the CPU is weak if you wanna play Arma 3. I had an amd fx 6300 and I had to run Arma 3 on med settings. Also the GPU with that PC is really really weak. If you could post a maximum budget I could put together a good PC for you?

Give me a budget and I'll put together a list for you that will best run something like arma.

Thanks guys I really apperciate it. I'm thinking probably the $700 range, I know that isn't a whole lot for these things but it's not something I need right away or need to spend money on. But if I can find something in that general area(give or take) that'd be great. Just from what I've seen there isn't a whole lot in that range but I also don't know what I'm looking at. Again laptops are good too. And also don't forgot I don't need 60-65 fps all the time either. I'm not going to lie I'll play at 10 fps sometimes and I'm fine with it but I would like something a little better. And again I apperciate your guys time and effort here, thanks a lot.

I know it's quite a bit higher than your budget, but since you're not in a big hurry, I think it'll be worth it to save up in the long run. This cpu will do a fantastic job in arma and anything else you throw at it. If you want to, later you can add a second 280x for double the graphical power and crossfire is amazing! This will get you 30-50fps constant on ultra in arma I can almost guarantee it. pcpartpicker.com/p/JDx6Lk

That's a very nice system! I do have a question Matt. Are you saying 30-50fps on all ultra on single player? Cause I can run 60 fps on single player, but on mp I have serious fps drop. I'm running high and getting 30-45fps. It cold be how I have my settings. I would have asked you on Steam, but you know....

Thanks guys I apperciate it. I think what I'll do is maybe order it piece meal then put it together but the only thing that will suck about that is I'll be paying an arm and a leg because I live in Canada, our dollar is way down plus shipping. So I was talking to the guy at the store today and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I showed your list and he was impressed. I asked what he had and he showed me this one and said it wasn't quite as good but had the ability to eventually change a few parts, like the i5 for a i7 and what have you. m.futureshop.ca/?lang=en#/catalog/productdetails.aspx?ajax=true&sku=10297705&lang=en-CA

I have an i7-4790k and it's beast. I need to figure out how to configure Arma 3 better. An i5 or i7 would run Arma 3 a lot better than an amd, but it it's your choice.

yeah and i think it is a normal thing with multiplayer because i also have that i7 and every now and then i get a small fps drop but nothing like game freezes or any of that.

An i5 or i7 would run Arma 3 a lot better than an amd, but it it's your choice. False. Rex has the cpu I put in that link above, and he gets consistent 60fps on ultra. He also has a 770. My i5 shouldn't outperform his amd, but your i7 should, and it doesn't.

Disabling hyperthreading increases fps tremendously.

Disabling hyperthreading increases fps tremendously. I actually didn't have it on for awhile and just turned it on last week. I'll try it out and see if that works.

So for alienware do you install their graphic drivers or nvidia graphics card from their site?

I normally do nvidia's cause it's the latest, but I'd go alienware cause they're a little weird.

My drivers are auto updated by Geforce Experience on my Alienware X51.
So it might work either way lol.

If that works, then any nvidia drivers will work. Geforce just updates to the newest release from Nvidia.
